Hugh Hendry is a fund manager at the London-based firm Eclectica Asset Management. He is an outspoken commentator on the continuing financial crisis.

Mr. Hendry was born in 1969 in Glasgow, Scotland, and received a B.A. in Economics and Finance from Strathclyde University in 1990. He has held various posts with hedge fund firms, the most important being Baillie Gifford, a prestigious investment firm in Edinburgh.

He is well known throughout the United Kingdom for his critical views of modern banking and the moral hazards created when banks are bailed out by governments using public funds. Mr. Hendry commands respect through gritty comments such as referring to short-selling as "the pursuit of truth" and stating that government bailouts of banks will "doom us all".

Hugh Hendry is a regular guest on British financial TV and radio programs.

Hugh made an appearence on BBC QuestionTime earlier and while clearly frustrated with some of the disingenuous remarks made by the politicians on the panel, he did get the opportunity to give his opinion on the prospects for the UK economy in the light of Q3 GDP of 0.8 pct vs +0.4 pct forecast.
